Gerard Tempia Bondat was born in Grenoble in 1971. He discovers the violin at the age of four years. At twelve years old he begins to travel the world with Ivry Gitlis, giving the boy the opportunity to meet many people during his concerts performed in France and abroad.At fourteen years old, Gerard wins the 1st prize in the music contest of Radio France as well as the 1st prize in the International competition of the UFAM. In 1985, he competes in and wins the prestigious Menuhin Competition. He is then offered a place at the Yehudi Menuhin School for young and highly talented musicians.In 1987, he gives a remarkable concert in Berlin having been selected by Ruggiero Ricci as one of the most brilliant 10 violinists of his generation.In 1996, he was awarded the 1st prize “Young Hope” and the 1st prize in International public competition of La Ciotat. With Zino Francescatti, he has the rare privilege to experience the lessons of musical life and humility. Curious and insatiable, this gifted musician draws inspiration from all musical sources. In the United States, he learns about The Blues, he also likes Jazz and the improvisation what brings him to Stephane Grappelli and Didier Lockwood and to still accompany Daniel Mille.Thanks to the discovery of these new musical styles, Gerard Tempia Bondat develops his composition and classifications, which allows him to experiment in the genre of French and foreign songs.He then begins his professional career by putting his talent to the service of artists who appreciate his expertise compositions and symphonic classifications, notably with the orchestra of the Opera of Hanoï for the pop rock group Indochine (this album/DVD has achieved music awards including the NRJ Award), then with reknowed pop singers and their bands as Sting, Zazie, Patrick Bruel, Olivia Ruiz, Tryo, Alain Bashung, Benabar, Jacques Higelin, Brigitte Fontaine, Massive Attack, Christophe, Dionysos, Cheb Mami, Khaled, Georges Benson, John Mc Laughlin, Cesaria Evora, Henri Salvador, Johnny Hallyday, Mathieu Chedid, Pat Metheny.
